Question Taiwanese Beauty questions

So my husband (whaaat??) wants a Taiwan Beauty Snake after seeing them at Reptilia. He thinks they are the most beautiful and cool looking snakes he's seen.

I was SUPER surprised to hear him say this, since he hasn't shown much interest in snakes before. Maybe I've converted him to the dark side

I really don't know much about these guys, so I would appreciate some advice/reliable caresheets. It may end up being me that looks after it (fine with me, the more pets the better )

1. How are they for handling - what's their temperament (other than fast) are males/females better temperament wise?

2. Do they eat rodents, and what size? How often do they eat?

3. Can they live in a tub or do they need a tank, and what size enclosure?

4. Heating and humidity requirements.

Re: Taiwanese Beauty questions

I had a few Taiwanese beauty snakes, my biggest was close to 9 feet. They are pretty large for a colubrid, definitely arboreal! They need to climb, mine were dolls but as a norm they tend to be quite defensive, poop flinging, musking little beauties

Definitely not what I'd call a starter snake if he plans to hold them, butt they make great eye candy in a display enclosure.

Re: Taiwanese Beauty questions

Ohh yeah, mine ate rodents with vigor, never skipped meals.
They eat size with the same proportions as other snakes.

Re: Taiwanese Beauty questions

Mine is pretty much the same as Stephans. Eats like a champ and is pretty docile. Definitely arboreal and super fast. Awesome way to keep up with your hook training ability. Great snakes!

Re: Taiwanese Beauty questions

Thanks for your help guys, but my hubby is no longer interested after reading that they need a big enclosure. We don't really have room for enclosures other than tubs now. I really hadn't looked into them before, they seem like really cool snakes. Wish we had the room :/ maybe some day when we get a bigger place.
