WLP First Shed - Extremely Excited Update

It has been close to or alittle over two months now since I rescued my beautiful WLP "Mikey a.k.a. Mickey" (according to the children). We have been through alot during that time already with his aggression in and out of the cage, what seemed to be an endless battle with mites, which I feel was an extremely large bonding experience for us. After all the treatment for the mites his aggression has decreased almost to none, and just turned into a huge loving snake with me....now anyone else that has tried to hold him has always walked off bleeding from a nasty bite.

Anyways though I recieved a call from my fiancé that he shed this morning and is looking absolutely beautiful am his colors are like never before. I can not wait to be home, take new pictures and shares pride and joy with everyone.

It's nice to see that you have made some progress with the defensiveness. I would be proud!

He looks gorgeous, I love how golden he is. Must be pretty exciting when you know he's waiting at home for you! How old is Mikey?

I am really unsure on his age, I was unable to get any information about him when I got him, which I wasn't to concerned about with the conditions he was in. He is close to four foot long right now, but the individuals I got him from had him in a 7.5 gal tank, mites, and dry cap still on his eyes, conditions were just horrible.

We battled the mites for about two weeks, but the first week was the worst. When I had originally got him I had seen a few, treated and thought I had nipped it in the butt, a month later it was like BAM out of no where horrible and I felt horrible. The first week of the actuall infestation was the worst, the second week was more precautionary treatment just in case, and haven't seen any more since....knock on wood

Re: WLP First Shed - Extremely Excited Update

Congrats! I can't same I'm surprised that your little WLP was defensive when it was covered in mites. Mites = stress, stress = poor attitude. Although I must admit I'm surprised he's calmed down so much without the mites, I've heard these guys can have an attitude in even the best of conditions. Regardless, you have a fantastic looking little snake there, best of luck!
