FlexWatt Questions

Hello Everybody. I have never used flexwatt heat tape before. I am setting up a new enclosure for when I go to repticon, gonna get a new addition . Any way I have some questions about it.

1.) Can I put flexwatt directly on a sterlight container?

2.) Is it good to use on just 1 or 2 enclosures without a rack?

3.) Should I order a thermostat or a dimmer?

4.) What size should I get?

5.) Will this work good for keeping ambient temps?

6.) Should I run it along the side, top, or bottom of enclosure?

Thank you in advance, sorry for so many questions but I wana get this right lol.
PS.
I want a boa, one that is known for climbing around the cage and not hiding all the time like my ball. Are there an like this?

Re: FlexWatt Questions

Looks like you are set! I have that Hydrofarm stat and it does the job.

As for the tape and set-ups that should be fine.

I have also used beanfarm to get my tape and set-up pieces and it was a pretty good price. Although I don't think they have 6"....just 3", 4", and 11". Up to you at this point

Re: FlexWatt Questions

Good advice already. I have used the same stat for awhile now with no issues at all. As far as the heat tape it all depends on how big the enclosure is. 1/4 to 1/3 is ideal for most species. Get a heat gun to check temps where the snakes actually are, a dial gauge 6 inches up from the floor is almost useless unless you have tree boas. Of course the heater should be placed under the cage. Hope this helps.

Re: FlexWatt Questions

The new THG heat tape from RBI is great stuff, it was designed specifically for hero applications. There are a few write ups and reviews out there already. Robyn at ProExotics/The Reptile Report helped create it. The new connections are fantastic, the rivets sit almost totally flush compared to the old connectors.
