Ventrillo?

just had a random thought, these forums are wonderful but would anyone be interested in a ventrillo server for casual conversation?

we could keep the password secret and only reveal to members with more than say 50 posts. all the moderators can be moderators in there and kick people if needed,

i could probably spring for a 50 person server myself as a test run.

I'm the one that always gets ran over. Soft spoken, really. It's fun to listen, though.~ I use vent for Warcraft, so it's something I'm familiar with.

I used it for WoW as well, and I found that trying to use it, or any other VoIP service, is pointless without a headset (using a built-in mic didn't go so well). Had I a headset, I'd use it, but I still totally support the idea.

I used vent as a gamer and I hated it.. the 2-3 second delay + just anyone can join is incredibly annoying. Skype is instant, the sound is much clearer and its much more customer friendly, and free.

true, but skype would not work in a large scale like this, vent you can come and go when you need to. can be split into channels for each topic, and only one person has to pay to host it.

Kinda wish skype had that option :P If people want to try it, and it catches on I wouldn't mind pitching in to keep it going.

We aren't getting a chat option going here. It's been brought up a few times and the mods won't do it. Besides they really don't need the extra work.

No thank you. I treasure my sense of hearing and my ears in general. So jabbing pencils through them won't work for me.

ever thought of using team speak, you can use microphones to talk on it and i believe that its free to use and can have password protectors and can have unlimited members on it

The chat on here would go the same way as the chat on the facebook page jn a bout five minutes, i left that group for the same reason i would never use a chat option here.

Eh, I'm used to the whole ventrilo thing, from screaming to good ol' picking at people(though it's meant in good fun, a lot easily misinterpret it), so I really don't care or mind.

Ventrilo isn't really required to use...

There's also private channels or channels with your own password.
