Re: Heres another video of the White Lipped Python

Very cool. I do have a couple tips to hopefully make handling easier.
When you picked her up with the hook let her keep her tail wrapped around it. I found mine feels more secure and won't poop or musk if i leave him on the hook. I just let him climb off of it on his own. Mine boy freaks if i touch him with my hand, but if i let him climb onto it by himself he just fine.
I been lucky on the getting tag, mine only close mouth strikes. Or as i call it head butts.

Yeah what you saw on the video was a closed mouth strike, its so fast though it freak us out. I also want him to get used to being held, getting grabed and so on. I rather get bit now than when hes older. How old is yours?

Re: Heres another video of the White Lipped Python

Mine is a yearling. I never realized how slow they grow. My buddy had got him last summer as a baby and got tired of him always musking him. So i made a trade with him. I haven't been musked once. I don't handle him as often and when i do make everyone stay back. This seem to help keep him from getting stress out as easy. Which means he letting me handle him for longer period at a time.

A lot of white lips don't become accustomed to that type of handling. You should think of a carpet python if that's your choice. Similar snakes.

If you want to stay with the liasis family then a macklot's would be my choice. Tend to be more calm.

Im keeping him wether he gets tamer or not, if he doesnt then I wont handle him when he gets older. When I got my first GTP I never thought I would be "cuddling" with her, I wanted her as a display animal.

I am very interested in getting a carpet. I used to have a diamont x jungle but it was a baby and I had to get rid of him within months of owning him (truly a disapointment). Now I have my eye on a Jaguar Carpet, any advise on carpets?

I tip my hat to you good sir. It's so nice to see someone who understands some snake are just better display animals. You wouldn't believe how many people i seen come on here and be look i just got a anaconda. Then 6 months to a year later you know longer see them post pictures because they have gotten rid of it because they couldn't handle them. It's seem to be the same with WLP. People realize they don't take to handling very good so they get rid of them.

Re: Heres another video of the White Lipped Python

Thanks man, that means a lot. Like ive said in my videos, I respect my snakes and I treat them as if its a privilege for them to allow me to hold them. Everytime I put one back, I say, "thanks for letting me hold you and thank you for not bitting me" lol
This is my 9th snake and its the first one Ive bought a snake hook for... I knew what I was getting into

P.S. I cant wait to own a Green Anaconda. I actually drove 45 min to buy one but when I arrived it didnt look too healthy (it had two raised and very swollen scales near the necK). So I decided to hold off.

Two things.

1. You don't need a hook. You're too slow. Once you reveal her grab her before she notices anything and remove her. Won't bite you anymore than she did in the video.

2. If it's a privilege that they allow YOU to hold them why are you forcing this one? That's no longer a privilege but considering it a must or a right.

Green annies are awesome, the one I watched for a few months was extremely docile. Didn't like being taken out of the water though.

No idea, I know that he was always fed in the water and I'd let him soak in the bath for 30 minutes a day. Whenever I picked him up out of the bath he would puff up and give a slight hiss so that is a possibility but I was never bitten.
