A pain to get feeding when first hatched, but once going i quite like them, not the most exciting snakes to keep, but looks wise they do look good, and are easy to keep.

Thats a great bunch of snakes you have there. The red tailed racer, beauty, and russian are my favorites though.

cheers, the red taileds were my breeding pair, they were wc initially, and the female was so aggressive, but she had a habit of only striking for the face, the male was more of a flee rather than fight kind of guy so was easier to work with, great snakes, and the beauties, i find very under rated, always over looked but a joy to keep.

how many rough green snakes can you house together out of curiosity

There are many things in life that we all take for granted, But the most important things that we affect are the animals and their habitats of this planet. If we can do something for these animals like give them a home and we can meet there basic needs then we are all heroes for making sure that the animals will still be there for future generations and should lead by example.

I always find my rough greens do better in groups than singularly, so i tend to house one male to 2/3 or even 4 females,

ah ok thanx for quick reply as im thinking of getting some myself but for a group of say 6, what size enclosure should i go for and any other info would be a huge help aswell

Wow, I find the mandarin rat snake to be truly incredible!! I must get my hands on one of these!!!! The bamboo rat snake is just as stunning! You have quite a collection! I'm definitely jealous lol....

You'll want to give them as much space as possible, for my groups i tend to go for 3ft long by 2ft high and 2ft deep, thats fine for 4, but bigger would be better as long as you can pack it out with plants and cover so they feel safe. I will write up a care sheet for them soon when i get some time, just been working so much lately.
If you get WC, which will be likely as there are few of us that breed them over here, you need to feed them wc food, catch spiders, wood lice, even earth worms, flys, and grass hoppers etc, to feed them, with the odd cricket and locust, as people get them in and feed them cb locusts and crickets straight away, this changes the gut flora too quickly, as they are used to food with more bacteria, which is why when you ask most people about rough greens they say they tend to die after around the 6 month mark. You need to gradually wean them from wc food to cb food over a few months.
Also they stress easy, so alot of cover, in a quiet area, with very little interaction until they are settled is essential, and a nice good quality UV light is needed aswell.

Thank you, you have good taste, looks wise the mandarins and the bamboos are my favorite looking colubrids, stunning snakes.

That Mandarin is beautiful! Hopefully I'll be able to breed my pair of Mandarins next year, but if not definitely will the year after. And my Coxi pair will be ready next year for sure! Do you also breed those two species?
