today couldn't have gone better

So I woke up today and looked at my bank statement. turns out i got my state tax return back this morning. went to one of my restraunts i deliver to for breakfast with my girlfriend and the owner picked up my bill. so i decided to go to the taylor reptile show to see what all was there.

Turns out i went to look for a female sunglow or anery. I saw a few anerys that didnt catch my eye. they were too dark, and a few sunglows that were too light. Well i found a guyana red tail. It is a male and i would guess around a year and a half.... maybe a bit more. his colors were crazy red so i picked him up. i got him for $150 and he is a fiesty one let me just say that. if you touch him about 2 inches behind his head he will strike forward. learned that real quick. Totaly different than my dumerils and he is in quarintine today.

Oh also forgot to say that my animal plastics tank came in today and i am in the process of setting it up.

well here are some pictures of him. the pictures do not do him much justice. I think he may have some nose rub but didnt wanna keep him out to long so he is in his tank right now.

He is pretty but something really going on with bis nose, i cant even tell if im seeing nostrils.

Sounds like a great day! He seems like he has really red markings for sure but they seem quite rich and dark. Very nice. Hopefully he will gain some more trust the longer you handle him and stop striking at you. I'm curious if something may have happened for him to have that aggression, especially since he is around a year and a half. Anyways, keep us updated!

He is a very handsome looking boa.

I noticed it when i got home.... he doesnt keep his mouth open or hasnt even yawned so im giving him a week to settle in before i handle him to look at it. i think it is just cage rub bc when i stuck him in the tank that was the first thing he did was go to the top and push on the lid a little so i will keep an eye on him and go from there.

he does feel thin, i may thaw a small weened rat and toss it in there for him. the guy said he ate on tues day but it just feels like he has alot of loose skin. his nostils are open and visable. i will try to get a better picture of it the end of this week.

I think you're fine. He looks to have good muscle tone and seems alert from the pictures.

I'd wait a couple extra days to feed him just because BCC tend to have sensitive stomachs. Make sure the meal isn't too large or he may regurge it. The loose skin could just be a bit of dehydration but I wouldn't fret over it. Just keep the humidity up.

He won't really "bulk" up until he's older as I seem to find BCC are kind of slender until they mature a bit more.

thanks aaron. He is active when he was out of the tank, and his nose just looks like nose rub to me. when i did have him out he had his mouth shut the whole time. yesterday when i got him and had him on the floor he was watching me like a dog watching a steak. way differnt than my dumerils.

Beautiful snake!! love the colors on him. As long as he starts eating he should be fine. that nose thing should fix itself with 1 or 2 sheds

I think he looks great, he does have a stuck shed on the tip of his nose and he is Guyana lol they are all grumpie bcc in general are a bit more feisty and keep you on your toes more then bci! he is very pretty what a deal too!

i hope he will tame down after a few feedings. thats the last thing i want is a snappy 10 footer
