New Het Clown BP

Hello everybody. I have a couple questions regarding my new 66% Poss Het Clown BP. He is 4 1/2 months old. Just received him in the mail 5 days ago. My temps/humidity are as follows: warm side=90*-91*, cool side=77*-80*, Ambient=83*-85*. Humidity is currently 52%.
He cruises around the enclosure at night, even caught him with his face in the water bowl! He saw me and went back to his warm hide. Is his roaming at night signaling him becoming more settled in?
Daytime, he often sticks his head out of his hide. More settling in?
His last f/t rat pup was on the 5th of this month. I wonder if he is getting hungry. According to his breeder's chart, he is a very regular eater! Hasn't missed a feeding every 7-10 days. He also hasn't shed since the 21st of October, according to his chart.
I haven't handled him at all since putting him in his enclosure on arrival day, so I don't know if his belly is pink-ish (pre-shed). No blue eyes, faded skin, etc.

Temps and humidity is fine, make sure you bump the humidity up slightly when he does go into shed. All the searching is just exploring and trying to find an escape more than likely. It's a good sign that he is active, but you still would not want to let your QT guard down just incase something pops up like the dreaded mites!

I'd go you received him on the 7th? and he was fed on the 5th? It's not an uncommon practice to ship a snake with a gut full, but not always the best of practice. You can try and offer an appropriately sized food item. Try not to disturb him much. If he refuses, don't push. Just put the food away and offer again in a few days. Most of my snakes IF I offer them food early on from receiving take a meal in the first 3 days of being with me, but I also try to ensure they are shipped with an empty gut. This saves face if they get too cold so they don't have to chance impaction or gut rot from undigested prey especially if shipping delays occur.

not shed since october? Idk maybe its me (it probably is as I dont know anything about BP) but that seems like a long time for a young snake to go without shedding. Someone please provide that info im now curious.

for his night activity BP's are nocturnal. My boas are as well and boy are they noisy at night, crusin around knockin things over.How do you measure temps and humidity, if you dont already have a digital gauge i suggest getting one. Analogs are bad known for giving you false readings.

His last f/t 20g rat pup was on Jan. 5, I received him on the 9th. I measure my temps with an IR gun from Reptile Basics. Humidity is monitored by a Caliber IV. I had an Acurite for awhile, more like ACUWRONG! XD That thing was the furthest thing from accurate!
His enclosure is in our living room. We have a 5 year old son who is ok at leaving him alone. I've been considering moving Lou's enclosure into my bedroom. We'll see. I also have a cat. Is it possible Lou (snake) smells/senses the cat? Thanks guys! \m/ \m/

BP's generally hide. Its what they do. They chill out in a hide and watch the world around them, this is why i never wanted a bp

Personally i would bump the humidity up to a minimum of 55-60 preferably nearer 60 with it being over 65 during shed
