I finally got a male ball python and am absolutely smitten with him. I hope to learn more about snakes from this forum.
anyone from maryland who keep ball pythons or snakes in general?

Ditch (what looks like) the analog. Get a digital thermometer/hygrometer. Very pretty by the way. There are lots of knowledgeable ball people on here that I'm sure can give you lots of info. Posting a complete pic of your setup will be a good start.

nice looking ball it looks like a normal ball to me. and im with embrace analog thermometers have been known to be up to 20 degrees off

You need a digital hygrometer too. What are your temps and humidity levels at?

According to that, your humidity is too low. But like I said, there are ball people here. You could post a separate thread in the appropriate section asking about their care. You'll get a much better response than in the welcome section.
