heating in a custom enclosure?

ok i am building a custom double enclosure for my beardie, Godzilla, and for my Carpet python, Diamond, out of a retail store display case.

the display tank is about 7ft long about 3ft tall and about 3ft deep. it is divided down the middle making it into two seperate cages that are roughly 3 1/2 ft long x 3ft wide x 3ft deep. the way i am designing the beardie side still gives him plenty of floor space to run around and play and will have all the right basking, cool side and uvb spots, ect.and the snakes side will have all the right cool side hot sides ect. i have a wooden top, wooden back and wooden sides with sliding glass doors on the front.

now for the heating issue i am having is i would like to have Ceramic heat emitters in the tank but i have your normal ceiling light and outdoor flood light fixtures installed and i want to know if they will work for the che's or if i will have to use a bulb? the fixtures are out of reach of the beardie and will be screened in on the snakes side. i will use bulbs if i have to but i would much rather use che's. i really dont want to have to take the fixtures down and rewire and deal with that whole mess.

as soon as the enclosure is done i will show it off with plenty of pics, will hopefully be done by the first of the year.

thanks logan

Re: heating in a custom enclosure?

If you use CHE's you MUST use a ceramic bulb fixing - how easythey are to change over i dont know.

Re: heating in a custom enclosure?

these are just normal fixtures like you buy from lowes for outdoor floodlights and for install lights in your ceiling. i can change them out if i have to its just a matter of taking them down and rewireing. i have looked all over then net but havent found any kind of light fixture i can screw to the top or side of an enclosure that can take a ceramic heat emitter.

the floodlight fixture is all metal if that helps it looks like this
