Cameras
So what to do, what to do.... I was wondering If I could get peoples opinions on cameras. I dont own one, but obviously have a comp. and would like to get a digital camera for all the basic type of uses.... all seasons pics, tourist pics etc etc.
Could all you users give me some opinions on cameras comparing cost to usefulness.
P.S. As you probably could tell I am not an avid(sp?) camera user

Hi royal,
I just got a digital camera last month, the Canon S40 and its really good.
I would recommend any Canon or Nikon digital camera. If you dont want to spend too much, the Canon A40 is your best bang for buck, as well as the Nikon Coolpix 2000 and 2500.

We have a Sony Mavica CD-300, I find it's great for macros, being able to get as close as 3". The biggest selling feature was it's convenience of using 3.5" cd's. You don't need any cables to connect the camera to your computer, just pop the CD in your drive and away you go, though cables are included for connecting to your computer's usb ports and your tv/vcr. The camera is a little more expensive but the media is dirt cheap, 180 megs for a couple dollars.

royal, why dont you look at the pictures posted by other members, and if you see something you like, ask them what camera they are using. That is what I did.
Hope this helps.

for
me because I am not hard core into photography...I bought the Cannon Powershot A40. It was cost effective, has video with audio capabilities, and takes clear pictures without a lot of work.

I love Nikon, espically my coolpix 4500. Granted, it's expensive, but to me when you can take a shot of a snake's eyeball that will fill a 17" monitor's display area...
It does 35 second movies, the whole shooting match. I have several small animals (small snakes, small frogs) so I needed something that would take kick @ss macros, and this baby let's you do within 3/4"!
The "film" is kind of prohibitively priced, but other than that, I have no complaints, a top notch piece of equipment.

I use a good old fashioned (relatively speaking) Sony Mavica. I like it because it has good zoom, takes decent pics, but the biggest advantage is that it writes the pics to a floppy disk so I can pop it in any puter, no cables.

Fuji FinePix series are great cameras for both point and shoot and some custom stuff. great colour, battery life, and lets you record sound and video. I had one before I upgraded to a completely manual digital camera. FinePix is great
