From what I understand it is not a good idea to handle snakes while they are in shed since it's very stressful for them. Try to be patient and leave him be until he's done, I know it's hard, lol!
Also, make sure you keep the humidity high in his enclosure while he's shedding, and a dish of water available. Shedding dehydrates snakes.
It is always better to leave them alone when they are in shed, Hands off until they shed. If you have to handle them keep it as short as possible to reduce stress. They can't see well when in the blue stage and you can stress them out by handling.
