Re: Feeding response
I used to feed outside of the enclosure with one of my carpets when I first got her. As time went on and I heard more and more about the practice, I decided it wasn't worth it. It puts you at risk for a feeding bite and it puts unnecessary stress on an animal that just ate some you run the risk of possibly causing a regurge.
As far as youtube goes, I've seen some really disgusting things people will do just so they have a 'cool' feeding video of their snakes. But thats a rant for another time. The people that feed these large constrictors outside of their enclosures are putting themselves in a very dangerous situation. Only a matter of time til something goes wrong unfortunately.
Sorry to go off there for a bit, to answer your question regarding how long do they wait to put them back in their cage. I have no idea, I think it was Rob on here that said something to the effect that his super dwarf retic will still be in feeding mode up to two days after feeding sometimes. Maybe these guys have a pair of awesome gloves?
