new blood keeper

hi all
i'm abit worried about my blood python, curtus brongersmai
i have had her since august last year and shes growing very fast from about 16 inchs to just over 2 foot, eating rat weaners twice aweek.
the thing is shes never passed any waste in all that time,
i have the humidity at about 80%
i have also given her warm baths with no luck, i once had a boa constrictor which got impacted and this worked with him,
any idea on how to get her to go to the tiolet?
is impaction dangerous for bloods, i know some othe snakes go long times without going to the tiolet, like gaboon vipers,
thanks for any help

First of all welcome to the forums!!
Bloods don't deficate as much as other snakes do. Has it urinated since u got it? sometimes the urates can be so hard from being dehydrated that it can block the poop from coming out because it can't pass them.

hi mike
thanks and hello
well its some times produces the urates, that white stuff, but very little.
it last did it when i got her sexed, and that was'nt much really, considering how long shes not gone for.
is this common then for bloods?
how long does other peoples bloods go before defacating.
i doubt shes dehydrated, as i mist the enclosure every day and the humidty gauge allways reads around 80%

Re: new blood keeper

As forementioned by Mike, bloods tend to defecate quite infrequently. Since August my female short-tail has defecated 2x and my male only once. Chances are those weren't urates you saw when your snake was getting sexed, but rather musk. Bloods are notoroius for musking when stressed out (ie- during shipping, getting sexed, handling). I wouldn't be too worried yet, as long as he is acting normal, and appears healthy .

Rat weaners? Also, IMHO since bloods seem to have a slower metabolism twice a week is a little too frequent a feeding schedule. They would constantly be digesting...

hi linds
knowing that your bloods hav'nt been to the tiolet as long as mine puts me at ease, shes my favorite snake, got her from the hamm show in germany
the weaner rats are on the small size and i love feeder her as shes a excellent feeder, unlike a burmese i have whos older and alot smaller, just cannot get him feeding on a regular schedule and only chick at that
the bloods appertite seems to have increased over the past month too as she will glady eat and eat and eat whatever i place in front off her, unlike before when 1 item off food was enought
anyway, this is a great site and have been reading it for the past few weeks
love some off the bloods posted here
bye for now
