Whats the difference??

Hi guys, Just wondering what the difference is between a flat faced ceramic bulb to the pearl shaped one?

Is the pearl shape one give off heat in the same way as a light bulb would in the range (more outwards than downwards) as the flat faced just aims straight down?

Is that all the difference is between them? And would a pearl shape one be better for a larger vivarium?

Re: Whats the difference??

i use ALL FLAT faced ceramic bulbs in all my 4 x 2 x 2ft tanks

it gives me a great hotspot and good consistant ambient air temperatures, throughout the tank

i have NOT used the other pear type bulb,i agree with you in thinking, their shape would throw heat out in all directions

i think it might overheat, the side and back of my tanks,as i fit my bulbs,in the back right corner (on the inside of roof)

this makes most of the back right corner of the tank, its hot end,and by using branches,i can create various temperature hot spots, the higher/closer to the flat bottom, directional heat bulbs the snake goes, the hotter it gets.....

as the bulb throws heat DOWNWARDS and OUTWARDS,creating good, hot end and ambient temps

cheers shaun
