Worrisome poop?

I was handling my gecko today, and he pooped on me, which wouldn't be a problem if it was normal-looking, but it wasn't. It was diarrhea-looking, really it looked like his crested gecko diet went right through him and turned brown. No pics, but if he poops like this again, I will definitely gets some.

I separated him from my snakes but he did not go into quarantine when I first got him.

I feed him normal, repashy crested gecko diet and he had a treat of banana last week.

We just had an exterminator spray around yesterday, but not in my room, where the reptiles are kept, although I did handle them that day, but I did(and do) wash my hands before getting them out and between species.

Re: Worrisome poop?

Sounds like a stress reaction. As in, he pooped on you to make you let him go. I would just leave him be for the next while.

All right. He usually takes pretty well to handling, though. Would it be okay to put him back into his place in my room?

How long have you had him?

Re: Worrisome poop?

If you have had him in the same room for the last two weeks then there doesn't seem much point in quarantining him now. Plus you just had the rest of the house fumigated, so bringing your little gecko out there seems like a bad idea. Id just leave him be, don't handle him for a few days and watch him closely.

Re: Worrisome poop?

I don't think it was fumigated.. but I don't really know how to explain it. I just moved him because if he was sick or something, it might keep the snakes from getting it as well. I'll move him back to my room and keep an eye on him.

Re: Worrisome poop?

Its a fair reaction, but it seems more likely that it was stress related.

Re: Worrisome poop?

I fully believe it's stress related now. I found two normal poops in his cage over the past couple days. Thank you for helping me out! I was really flipping out because I didn't want one of my babies to be sick.
