Male cal. King STILL not eating
I know it's breeding season i just start to worry as my male hasn't accepted food in around 3 weeks now. He's a big big boy so he's not starving but how long is to long before I should worry??

Re: Male cal. King STILL not eating
I don't know exactly how long but I think they can last around a month? I don't really know? Hopefully someone with more experience with snakes that don't eat anwsers your question.

Re: Male cal. King STILL not eating
basically when you start to see visible weight loss, you start to worry. as long as he has a good body weight for his species/age, you're good

Re: Male cal. King STILL not eating
snakes can go for months without food, so unless he is visibly loosing weight you should not worry. if you're that worried you can get a scale and weigh him (in grams) every week.
Double check that your hot side and cool side temperatures are right for a cal king & that he has places to hide on each side.
Only offer food once a week at most, and leave him alone completely (aside from cleaning poo out of his cage and making sure he always has fresh water)

Re: Male cal. King STILL not eating
Ok thank you, the temps are good 87 on the hot side and 75-78 on the cool side. He isint loosing weight ( at least visibly) and he's restless so I think he's just looking for his female. Thank you for the advice.

Google "King snake feeding problems." I'm pretty sure this has been covered before.

Do you know how childish you look going through all these threads just to make a pathetic point?

Even if it has, he is a new member here, and if he has questions, he should not be afraid to ask if he has concerns.

Yeah I already realized that. I've gone too far. Please accept my apologies. Consider it dead.

I know. I was just returning the favor for his helpful advice on my threads. But in the end it doesn't really do any good. Urge to make a point got the best of me.

personally with my carpet pythons,i would NOT start to worry, until they went 7 to 10 months without feeding mate
imo,3 to 5 months not eating due to breeeding season,is normal for some snakes
its all down to the individual snake mate
3 weeks is not a lot, especially since its breeding season and he's a big boy
cheers shaun
