Hc wayne and hedy
So rich posted this and I thought you guys would want to know
Recently HC was the victim of a sql injection. A sql injection is when someone (losers) find a way to exploit a vunerability in a program or script that allows them to inject code into a page. This is done by injecting the code into the sites database so that when that section of data is called (legitimately) from the database the injected code can then be executed. In this case they managed to inject their code into our footer template. The injected code was a base64 encoded redirect that tried to send people to another website where a trojan was attempted to be placed on peoples computers. Some browsers stopped the redirect by locking HC down (kudos to the browser) and others were notified via their antivirus system. Others were never notified at all because our antivirus systems are designs to just quarantine the file and then remove it.
I was notified by some members of some strange issues with HC which is what prompted me to investigate this and then isolate the issue. Thank you to those people. If this EVER happens again please contact me immediately. Any email sent to herpcenters webmaster account will get to me. (webmaster [at] herpcenter [dot] com)
HC will NEVER add any scripts to the site to install anything that would be picked up by a virus script. When you see something like that, I need to know!
If anyone is having issues as a result of not having proper antivirus protection I suggest you scan your pc over at Free Virus Scan - Free Antivirus Software | Norton Security Scan and remove the trojan. i then suggest you get yourself some antivirus software that intercepts things like trojans. Avast was the script that first notified users and they have a free version! avast! | Download Free Antivirus Software or Internet Security
Please keep me informed of any further issues! If you like, add me on Facebook so you can contact me via them as well. I can be found at Richard Brooks | Facebook
