Feeding Guinea Pigs
Just wondering if anybody feed Guinea pigs on here and if they found anything different than feeding rats etc.
I have fed them to boas in the past and no problems, but this time I fed one to Blood python and then fed one to a boa.
There was some interesting differences.. just wondering.

Re: Feeding Guinea Pigs
The first thing was the blood looked like he ate a vollyball. She keep getting bigger for the first two day. Then she started to deflate.[its the only way to describe it]She defacated today and it looks off...weird colour and texture. She has not been herself.
The other difference was more interesting. The boa digested the same size gp almost twice as fast.Same size pig and the temps are the same. She did not inflate like the blood.
Just thinking out loud.hmm

Re: Feeding Guinea Pigs
I have feed Guinea pigs to my boas before and never notice inflation. Weird.

Re: Feeding Guinea Pigs
I have to and did this time as well.No problems, but the blood python was just weird.Never seen anything like it.The same snake has had 3 1/2 rabbits in the past.No problem at all.

Re: Feeding Guinea Pigs
That's really bizarre.... wish I knew what to say, but I don't even like guinea pigs and never fed them to any of my snakes before.... Don't think I want to now either...

Re: Feeding Guinea Pigs
The only thing I've noticed with GPs is that it's a good way to add weight fast to a thin snake. I've never noticed any problems with them. Of course, they don't fold-down like a rat does, so it can be a good stretch for a smaller snake, but other than that I've never had an issue. They're not something I use often though - too rich

Re: Feeding Guinea Pigs
I thought maybe she got a chill and the gp started to go bad.She is a good size girl 5 plus feet and she has eaten larger prey items then the gp.
What came out the other end was this large grey mass, not white like urates and no dark fecal matter.
Weird
