Newbie still...

Hello Everybody!

So I just purchased some new hides (plus other helpful tools of the trade) for my BP Kaa. He had a decent sized cardboard box before and another make shift hide on the cooler end of his tank. But now that I've got his new hides... He's using his water bowl. *sigh* I can't help but think of the whole cat thing... You buy them toys and they sniff at it, roll up a paper ball and their amused for hours....
Anyway, because I'm still new at this... Should I be concerned? Should I wait for Kaa to warm up to his new hides? Should I return them and bring back his cardboard box???

I'm still new at this so forgive me if I am asking "dumb" questions. lol

Re: Newbie still...

Just give him time - new things need to be investigated slowly and carefully

Re: Newbie still...

Nothing to worry about, he'll go into the new hide when he wants to.

He'll eventually go in it. It's just a matter of time and nothing to worry about
That's a great looking enclosure by the way!!

Re: Newbie still...

it could be that the space under the water bowl is tighter so he feels more secure. The hide in on my BPs cool side is so small when he goes under it he pops up the side but when I put a bigger one in there he wouldnt use it

Re: Newbie still...

When people see my hides my 2yr old Kaybe has they often wonder how in the world Kaybe fits in them...but he does! And he loves it. Maybe you want to put some bedding inside the new hides to make it feel more snug?

Re: Newbie still...

Whew! Thank you everyone! He was tipping his water bowl so I have to get creative. I will try putting more of his bedding in/around the hides. I feel better now. =) I'm sure once everything gets situated Kaa will feel better too! (I just fed him an hour-ish ago. He ate like a champ!)

Thank you for the compliments on his tank. I am trying!

I did exactly that with my baby, her hides were way too big so i packed some aspen into them and she uses both now :-)

Re: Newbie still...

A palace fit for a king! Sir Kaa's humble home.

Thank you everyone for the suggestions and advice!

I put more bedding around his log. He's in his rock cave right now.

I'm thinking about plants... But for right now I want to just let him chillax and digest. =)
