Hello Everyone!

As some of you know I am getting my red phase Amazon Tree Boa This week and though I've read caresheets I always like to hear personal experiences that keepers have with the species

So lay it on me! Tips and Tricks to dealing with these beautiful snakes and of course when s/he comes I will be posting pictures

Thanks!

Make sure your set up is 100% for when it arrives so that you don't have to bother it at all for the first week aside from water changes. Also practice proper quarantine no matter what. I see so many people fail on these 2 things and it kills me. They are so simple and so important.

well its a 2011 neonate so I will be putting it in a tub since it will be easier to maintain humidity in there

Do you have the tub set up already? If not I would. A few days to see how the temps and humidity play out is always good practice.

My atb would soak in his water bowl. I know that is unusual but its a good idea to have one.

All snakes are different. Heck my GTP drinks from his bowl all the time. Never off his coils....

Re: Tips and Tricks for My New Addition (Coming Thursday)

be careful not to pull/force arboreals off of perches, they get wrapped up around them and too much force could injure their spine. i use an arboreal cage from boaphile for my carpet, they come with a removable perch which alleviates this problem.

as far as husbandry, pvc cages with a completely closed off top hold humidity well, another reason to go with the cage i mentioned above

read a few care-sheets on atbs

post pics

good luck!
