Uromastyx vs. Bearded Dragon

My sister wants a lizard and we have narrowed it down to a couple of lizards. Uromastyx and Bearded Dragon's. My sister needs something that is easier to take care of, so wich one in the long run is more easy. Also how big do each of them get? I know around how big a Bearded Dragon gets but I can't find any info on them. If you know any care sheets that are good for them than can you please post it. Also, this is a big one!!!!!! If you know any breeders in Canada that have Uromastyx or Bearded Dragons that would be great. If you know a Uromastyx breeder that would be better because I can't find any. Lastly if you know any brightly coloured tipes of Uromastyxs that aren't to exensive than you can post that to. All this would be great.

I'm pretty sure beardies are easier to take care of BUT uros are vegetarians so that will save the hassel of getting feeders every week.
Another thing is you can keep up to a trio of uros together but you can't with beardies.
Beardies will be better handlers.

OK thanks Youngster. I am leaning toward Uromastyx for her because it is easier to just feed vegetarian but also can you feed a Bearded Dragon pretty much veggies and mealworms?

You could, but mealworms aren't ideal. They have high phosphorus and a hard shell

I am biased and love beardies! For me it is easier to feed them dubia reaches than it is the veggies. the dubia are in a glass dish inside my beardies enclosure and can't climb out so I just keep it full and they eat at will. I hate cutting up veggies so that is the biggest pain for me when it comes to caring for them. I wish sometimes they only ate bugs like my geckos, lol!

I'm biased to the uros myself. Insects were always a pain for me when I had lizards. Both would be great lizards, I would recommend either to anyone who would want a pet lizard. No one here can tell you which one is better, both are awesome. There is tons of info on both on the internet. Just research and try to figure out which one would be the best fit.

Beardies are only a pain when young... once their adult their diet shifts to 80% veg and 20% insect prey. Mine gets feeders just once a week and a tub of crix last two feedings so I only have to get crix for him twice a month.

I definitely like uros better, but beardies will probably be the easier choice. They require less heat, and it isn't detrimental if they get wet.

I would definitely go with a beardie..... some uros get huge (4 feet+) but most stay the size of a beardie. In the long run a beardie (in my opinion) will be a much better choice.

Nope. I believe the Egyptian uromastyx is the one that gets big.

The Uromastyx is a genus of lizard whose members are better-known as Spiny-tailed lizards, uromastyxes, mastigures, or dabb lizards. Uromastyx are primarily herbivorous, but occasionally eat insects, especially when young. They spend most of their waking hours basking in the sun, hiding in underground chambers at daytime or when danger appears. They tend to establish themselves in hilly, rocky areas with good shelter and accessible vegetation.

Their size ranges from 25 cm (10 in) (U. macfadyeni) to 91 cm (36 in) or more (U. aegyptia). Hatchlings or neonates are usually no more than 7–10 cm (3–4 in) in length. Like many reptiles, these lizards' colors change according to the temperature; during cool weather they appear dull and dark but the colors become lighter in warm weather, especially when basking; the darker pigmentation allows their skin to absorb sunlight more effectively.
Their spiked tail is muscular and heavy, and can be swung at an attacker with great velocity, usually accompanied by hissing and an open-mouthed display of (small) teeth.[3] Uromastyxs generally sleep in their burrows with their tails closest to the opening, in order to thwart intruders.
