Is my ball constipated

Hi, everybody my ball python seems to eat and eat but only poops out the calcium part. I feed her 2-3 adult mice a week depending on what she wants. Last time it took her approximetly a month before she pooped out the dark stuff. She is urinating and drinking fine. I let her swim in my tub with warm water and still nothing. Her temp on her basking spot is 86f at the other end its around 80. So what do you think? Is this normal for balls. She is only around a year old.

3 adult mice a week at a year old seems a tad too much.... to me anyways....
How big is it?
overfeeding can lead to constipation....
Maybe u should try re-tuneing ur husbandry practices....

In all likelyhood, you ball python is not constipated. Bp's rarely get constipated. Snakes do not defecate frequently. It is perfectly normal for snakes to go several months without a poop. The defecate less frequently with age. The "calcium poop" you are referring to is uric acid accumulations, not calcium. Don't worry... your ball python is fine

My ball was only pooping every 6 weeks or so when I first got it. A little more often now but not much diff. Thats not a problem. Linds knows what she's talkin about..... the whitish/yellow hard stuff is urates and from what I've experienced they do excrete them more often then feces. As for feeding 3 mice a week.....its kind of hard to say if its too much without seeing a pic. of the snake or knowing how big it is at its thickest point. A food item equal to the size of the girth of the snake is appropriate. My ball at 11months is about the size of a toonie around and I feed it 1 small rat(whenever he feels like eating! ) So don't worry, it'll happen.....:toilet:

Hi, she usually only takes 2 mice anyway. She is around 2 mabey 2.5 feet. Her girth is a little less than a loonie. I have been trying to switch her to baby rats but, no luck yet..... We just got our scanner back today but the guy forgot to bring the disks so I might be able to post some pic's tommarow

sounds like you're doing o.k. with the feeding regimen. its not necessary to switch to rats but it'll save you having to feed a bunch of mice each time once she's an adult.
