Transportation
I'm moving 3 hours away, and the time has arrived to take Vermicelli with me. I will not be driving, but I'll be in a car. What would be the best and safest way to transport him?
In a related query, is it safe to use a thermostatted ZooMed pad under a Rubbermaid tub?

Re: Transportation
Yes it is safe to use a UTH on a Rubbermaid container. I would transport him in either a small deli cup with holes in it, or a snake bag. Both could be put into a small box with crumbed up newspaper to keep him protected.

Re: Transportation
I think I will be using the snake bag method, as he's definitely outgrown deli-cup size. Will a pillowcase work for a snake bag? And I want to loop it over when I tie it, right?
He should be fine for temperature, right? We'll be going pretty much straight there.

A pillow case is perfect. a loose knot in the top to keep him in there and you are all set.
put the pillow case in the poly tote (otherwise empty) for extra security.
Corns are a very sturdy north American colubrid, they are a lot tougher than people think, temps will be fine for a few hours.. Out in the wild they endure severe temperature gradients

Re: Transportation
I transported my baby BRB 2 and a half hours when I first got her. I just put her in tupperware with some damp paper towel. The only thing that sucked was not being able to use the air conditioning the whole ride home.

Re: Transportation
Well, he made it alive and well, now I just get to hope that the heating pad's enough to keep him that way!
Update! The temperature on top of the substrate above the heating pad is right at 86! Perfection!!
