So even though I got my first snake a good two weeks ago I'm already thinking about which is the next one to get. I'm only allowed to have 2 reptiles until I'm on my own in my own house. That being said I want a really good one. I'm not planning on getting another herp until either October (local herp show) or whenever I have enough money. I have around $200 so I can't get anything amazing. I was thinking a BP for awhile but I just want to consider my options. Soooooooooo... any ideas for a cheap to maintain but still fun reptile/amphibian to get? I'll consider others but I love snakes so I want another.

PS. My corn just ate for me for the second time! No fusses involved.

Taiwan beauty are fun, lil aggressive but not hard to handle. And they stay thin. They need branches to climb.

Now I'm thinking Leopard Gecko because they are cheap and when my corn grows out of his current tank it's the perfect size for a Leo.

Got mine as a rescue for pennies, you can get em for 60$ish. sometimes they go for 125ish, but normally lower.

Ball python for sure.. I havnt got 1 but theyre supposed to be reasonably low maintenance.. Congrats on gettin your corn to feed again. Its such a good feeling, I just got my baby boa to eat for the third time... Whoo!

if you are looking into leopard gecko's, you should look into crested gecko's also.

Beauties also don't normally require additional heat, although they have been known to use it.

Local reptile show = manchester radisson hotel one? north east reptile expo? i went there in april and got my Jungle Carpet Python for only 150$, and its pretty amazing

i am going back to the expo in oct.!

Indeed that is the expo I'm talking about

It's supposed to be huge this time. Luckily I only live about half an hour away from it

You can't go wrong with a carpet python. They are curious, active, personable snakes with generally very calm dispositions. They come in a variety of colors and patterns, and grow to between 5-8 feet usually; therefore, they're big enough to be impressive, but not insanely massive. They are very hardy and easy to care for and can handle small lapses in husbandry much much better than a lot of other species. Ball pythons can be very picky eaters and touchy as far as humidity and temperatures.

Gah Expo talk!!! I can't wait to go to that one! I loved it in April and I'm sure I will love it again in Oct..now only if I can save some $$$$ to spend again..bahahahaha

What about a Bearded Dragon? They are hilarious to watch, really entertaining. My friend has one and whenever she takes out her snake for feeding the Beardie bounces around in his habitat and gets all excited. Such a clown. And when they get older they calm down a bit and some people have taken them for a walk outside in the grass.
