hi i was wondering if anyone works one harleys for there job? im going to school in june for harleys and was just wondering what to expect when i get out.

Lots of off center engines that have a very low compression ratio and produce almost no power for their given displacement.

I know someone who just finished school and started up with Harleys, I don't know exact numbers but I know he's VERY happy with his hours and pay.
Sounds like an interested job~ you'll probably enjoy it.

I believe only sportbikes and streetfighters made in asia qualify as rice burners. There are some excellent rice burners out there by the way. Suzuki's GSXRs are excellent bikes at a very reasonable price. They also make something like 3x the power of an HD on just over half the displacement. And sound cooler. I like hairdryer riceburner exhaust note more than the grumble exhaust note. Also, wheelies and 0-60 in 2 or 3 seconds is not doable with HD. Nor is 'how fast can I take this hill and the subsequent hairpin without dying'. No fun. Can't get a crazy lean angle or tight turn out of it either. Just my 2 cents. I don't like them. I respect that other people do. Girls like them. A lot. That matters. Still don't want one.

Yes, and so is my Suzuki.

HD does not make anything I like either, and they are overpriced.

If you recall I spend all summer surrounded by hundreds of rice burners.

Some prefer to not be idiots doing wheelies and speeding around like they have a death wish. I do not.
When I was young and stoopid I had a crotch rocket but I have since matured and bought myself a nice cruiser for nice laid-back, leisurely rides through the winding countryside of Waterloo Region.

Personally i would much rather have a HD or Indian than any sort of racing bike but thats just me - lots of my friends have racing bikes - even the guy that got ripped in half by a roadsign still rides racing bikes.

Rice Burner also refers to cars, at least around here. "Riced out" is an adjective used to refer to that '95 civic hatchback with a giant coffee can hanging out from underneath the aftermarket bumper zip-tied onto the frame. Even if it's done well, it's still a rice burner if it makes that lovely "Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" sound

As for the crotch-rocket thing, I'm of the opinion that IF you can keep them from getting to your head, they make just as much sense (or more) than a harley...Ninja 650's get something like 75 to the gallon on the freeway, AT FREEWAY SPEEDS; at freeway speeds they are going to be no more life-threatening than a cruiser, in my opinion/from my very limited experience.

Yup.

Problem with a sportbike lies in a couple of things- The almost inexistant rake on the front end combined with the tucked riding position and an engine that loves to rev and loves to produce torque makes it nearly impossible to do the speed limit. You can do it, but it hurts inside a little bit. You feel very little wind resistance, and you feel very nimble and agile, and it just makes you want to open it up.

IMO, a sport cruiser

is the perfect combination, giving you an engine that can keep up with a sport bike, but a seating position that makes you less inclined to try.

There are some full cruisers I like, but ultimately I can't reason trading in performance and handling for 'girls like it better'. A sport bike can rip about 300-500HP out of 1300CC if properly tuned. A cruiser maybe 50-70. Sometimes less.

I can think of one specific experience where, had I been riding a cruiser I would not be typing this. Only my ability to pull a 45 degree lean saved my @ss.
