Best way to move a snake?

Hey guys,
So I have a problem... Luke has settled in nicely since I got him... trouble is I am moving back to Toronto for a couple of months and need to relocate Luke to my parents place while I am here... the drive is about 1 and a half hours long... if you go the speed limits...

My question is what is the best way if there is one to relocate him with minimal stress to him... I am making the drive down there on Tuesday.

Thanks guys (and ladies i didn't forget you )

Re: Best way to move a snake?

Pillow case, plastic box, newspaper, hand warmers.

Put him in pillowcase, put some scrunched paper in the plastic box, put the pillow case in too, add paper to fill the spqce and support him/stop him sliding around. Put lid on box, attach the handwarmers to the underneath of the box to give some warmth. Depends on the temps how much heat you need to add and whether you will drive with heater on.

Slighty colder than normal temps for a couple of hours wont hurt but you dont want him cold.

Re: Best way to move a snake?

Depends on the size of the snake but I have put the snake in a pillowcase and put them inside my top so they stay warm from my body heat.

I have done this with small corns, a young royal and young boas

Re: Best way to move a snake?

Like Lankyrob said pillowcase, hand warmers, and ox

I have to move in about 5 months and will be doing the same thing and it's going to be a 12 hour or more drive .

^^^^
what very lucky snakes you have, haha

i use the same method as rob without the heat packs i usually just make sure i run the car for a few minutes with the heaters on to get the temps up my journeys are usually around the 6 hour mark.the snakes tend to be a little lethargic after travel but soon heat up in their new tanks.

the snakes i bring in from europe are done the exact same way as rob suggested and they're on the road anything from 3 to 5 days

cheers shaun

Im doing my best Borat "Very nice" impression over and over again,

That said if its a fairly short drive it wont be too bad on the snake, Im sure you have held her for longer than half an hour havent you?

Also, once they get to the destination make sure to give them a few days to settle in their new enclosure. You dont want to stress them more then you need to.
