Lucy - April 14, 2011

Our first real bonding time.

She's still having a horrible time shedding.

She is lovely, remember lizards shed in bits so dont expect too much, and check toes and tailtips for old shed as thse can cause problems.

I know, I'm not new to lizard sheds but she's shedding in very, very stuck tiny pieces and has been for a little while. Her previous owner had been working with her everyday trying to loosen up the skin.

She's very shy and not too fond of handling but there's not an aggressive bone in her body. She's yet to bite or whip.

Man does she have her eye on you! Haha

She's looking great! To help with her shed, try using olive oil. Heat it VERY SLIGHTLY, and apply to the stubborn areas. Never tug on the skin, just gently rub. When the oil cools, apply more and continue rubbing. This method was recommended to me by several reputable owners/breeders. It's a slow process, but it works.

PS Love the tongue shots!!!!

That's tomorrow's plan. The previous owner (Nessie) is on TheTegu and had already been doing that.

Thank you.

I'm sure she'll be done with this nasty shed soon. She is an Argentine Red Tegu (Tupinambis rufescens).
