Last week I was at wal mart picking up some rat food and when I went to the automotive counter to pay for it, I walked up on a situation.

An elderly woman was shopping and when she tried to leave her car would not start. She went to the automotive department and asked for help.

The employees (and the store manager was there also) told her "if you want us to fix your car, you need to bring it around back to the auto department"

The poor woman was backed into a corner (so to speak) because she could not move her car to get it to the shop.

They actually told her to call a towing service to move her car from the main parking lot to the auto department.

So I decided to help her out. Her battery posts were all covered in green corrosion, so I clamped on the jumper cables, the car started right up.. she drove it around back and they fixed her right up.

Today I got a nice letter in the mail with a $20 bill inside.

The letter reads.....

"Wayne, Thank you so much for your kindness last evening, You were certainly a godsend, walking in at the very moment I had no idea of where to turn."

The letter just made my whole day.

Way to go, Wayne! I too always try to help when I see someone stranded. Possibly someday it will get me into trouble, as I know there've been people who prey on others' kindness to mug them or such, but I can't bear to leave someone stuck on the side of the road or in a parking lot when I know possibly I could help.
Too many people today mind their own business and figure someone else will help. Keep up the good work!

I used to drive a wreck of a car that had no petrol guage, lodpst track of my milage and ran out of fuel.

Some guy stopped and asked what the problem was and when i said he told to "be patient". Ten minutes passed and he pulled up with a portable petrol can full of fuel. I offered to payhim for the fuel and his time and he said "all i ask i that you stop and do the same for someone else" i never forgot his kindness and have since done this to three other drivers, i hope that they all do the same.

Good job Wayne! And that is some seriously poor customer service on the part of Walmart! I mean they're paid to be there and they couldn't take a second to go out and help an old lady! Pathetic!! I hope she wrote a letter to Walmart complaining as well.

It helps counteracts those awkward moments when someone is wondering why you're buying 200 pounds of rodent food.

Some people have no soul it seems. ;/ Maybe if it was some kid that was rude or gave them a hard time, it would be understandable. Maybe.

I remember we saw two homeless people and two dogs holding a sign on a strip of land, infront of an intersection. Was right near a Walmart. We couldn't stand to see them stand there, especially with their dogs in such cold weather. We pulled up, asked what they needed and stuff. They said their sleeping bags weren't too good and they needed new socks, almost out of dog food too and gave their blankets to the dogs to try and keep them warm. Also said they were a little hungry, but anything at all would help, even it was just socks. They were trying to make it to a town somewhere in Kentucky or so, said they've traveled a good way and have tried staying in hotels if they could afford a stay.

So, we went to walmart, got tons of those hand warmer things(they activate when snapping them or something), gave them two brand new sleeping bags, two large blankets, 2 large bags of dog food, about 20 cans of wet dog food, and large doggie jackets to make sure they're warm, too. We accidentally forgot the socks. We also got them 8 cheeseburgers from the McDonald's that was next to them. We began to drive off, but as we did, I decided to give them my $50 dollars to try and give them a big boost for, at least, a night's stay at a hotel.

I remember checking out, my mother had mentioned something about them at Walmart and the cashier said,"Oh, I'll call the police and get them removed." and she was like,"... Why? They're not hurting anything." It's kind of annoying how people can be so heartless. I'd like to see them try and do well staying even a night in 5 - 15F degree weather. Maybe then they'd have a little more respect.

That is so nice of you to do!

It's too bad that the employees weren't as nice as you!
Keep it up and maybe it will rub off on more people, some people are so caught up in their own lives that they forget that you need for look out for those who are in need of help.

She should have taken her business elsewhere, Walmart didn't deserve to have her as a customer. Hopefully she wrote a letter to the regional manager and put in a complaint.

I understand their policy, If someone that works for the store jump starts any car, and the jump blows out the computer in the customers car, and the customer files a court claim, guess who just got screwed over.

My friend Mike is a mechanic there, One of the reasons I pay for my pet food in the auto department. I use the back door, The parking lot is always empty back there, so parking close is easy. There is a lot less crowd at the back, and most wal marts have the pet food really close to the car shop.

Mike must have told her where I live, I expected nothing in return. I really didn't want to see an elderly lady have to shell out a couple hundred bucks to have her car towed 700 feet.

I think this is one of the major problems with modern society, in the past id someone tried to help but made things worse they would be thanked for trying to help, nowadays they get sued!

Great job wayne! I live in chicago and if you are able to get someone to help anyone its a miracle. I remember one time I left my cell phone in a friends car. He came to work to give it to me, He walked into the building and asked someone in the lobby which elevator bank to use to get to the 25th floor. They just laughed at him and walked away. I see people fall all the time on ice or whatever and people just walk right around. Ive seen people push people out of trains (not moving). Anyway enough of all that.

About 6 years ago when I was in highschool I was sitting in a burger king drive through with my girlfriend, Now wife and there was an elderly lady walking up to the side door of the burger king while her other elderly friend was still in the drive through, The lady walking up to the door tripped on the curb and fell. Of course I jumped out of my car to help her. Well her friend in the drive through jumped out of her car as well and forgot to put her car in park. So as I am helping the lady up I notice their car moving so I ran and jumped in and put it in park before it hit the car in front of them. I felt like superman that day! I dont know how I got to the car in time. LOL!
