Question Herp Societies, are you a member?

A few New Brunswick herpers myself included are talking about forming a provincial herp society. So I thought I would pick your brains. If you are a member of a herp society please tell me what you like about your society as well as what changes you would like to see. I’m also looking for info on things to do and not to do when establishing a society. And finally I’m trying to find a copy of another societies constitution to use as a guideline for creating our own constitution. We don’t want to reinvent the wheel here, or brake any new ground we just want to get things off the ground. Any and all comments and suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks so much,
Trevor

Hey Trev, if you get any info, pass it my way. I'd like to get something going in Manitoba too.

Thanks

I'm a member of Nova Scotia Herp Atlas project but it's not really a society, it's more like a tracking program to find where/ when and what species were found and in what location in the province.

I joined the Edmonton Reptile & Amphibian Society this last summer. The semi-annual shows that they put on are quite good (IMHO) and they have a rescue program for abandoned herps (mostly iguanas). The monthly meetings are great, especially for bringing kids. The Christmas party was pretty good too.

They do what they can to educate the community about herps and what it takes to keep them, especially iguanas which are being abandoned all too often. They send out a news letter and they do presentations for schools as well.

Their web site has a lot of room for improvment but here it is...
