Moving...

At the end of summer this year, I'll be moving to Vancouver to start attending Emily Carr.
I have a pile of animals to take with me.
I'd just like advice from anyone who's had to do this.
So far, my plan is to pack the animals in delicups, and keep those in a styrofoam box. We'll be driving, so I can keep them with me. The vehicle will be air conditioned, but just in case I'll bring some cool packs. Any other suggestions?

Make sure your animals are very well hydrated before the trip, AC tends to dry out the air. Also, don't feed them much the day before the trip and not at all the day you drive, so that food won't sour in their bellies if their body temps are on the low side.

Carry bottled water and some sphagnum moss in case the cool packs fail or the AC stops working so that you can keep your animals from overheating. It sounds like you've pretty much gotten your plans in order already! Good luck with the move.

i'd say don't feed for a whole week before, give them a chance to empty their gut.

Well, I don't think not feeding for a week would work with some of the geckos I have, but I think not feeding them at least a few days before is probably a very wise idea.

Yeah, it's an art College in Vancouver. I'll be trying for a degree in animation.

Because specific animals weren't posted, I would be cautious of that advice. If they are snakes then that's fine, but if they are other species of herp that eat on a daily basis, then they have much faster metabolisms and a week is far too long.

Yeah, don't worry. I don't think they read my list of animals before posting that advice. I'm not about to leave my slpendens without food for a week, or any of the other geckos for that matter.
