Exclamation Help...

I have a Red Tail Boa and she is only about 3 months old. Her cage is the perfect temperature when it's anywhere from 75-85 degrees. Both yesterday and today she decided to bury all but her head in the bottom of her cage underneath all her woodchips. I figured it might have been because she was cold but her temperature was at 80... any ideas on why she might be doing this??

Re: Help...

Welcome to the forum - would be good to knwo your full setup details - size of tank/hot and cold end temp/humidity/number of hides/type of substrate/size of water bowl/what you feed and how often.

Will help give a more complete answer. also pictures of the tank/vivarium could help.

Re: Help...

Don't worry, they'll do that. Mine hid under his aspen for 3 days once.

Re: Help...

Its not uncommon for boas to burrow, but I am a little concerned by your description of your temperatures, how are you heating the enclosure?

Depending on cage size and wattage the red light may not be warm enough at night. Do you also have a uth? Also, is the heat lamp also a bulb? Or is it a ceramic heat emitter? She may burrow to try to get away from the light.
