I suppose I should make an intro...

...seeing as I signed up here a while ago, and then promptly forgot this place existed XD Whoops ^^; Anyways, I'm not too good at intros but here goes; I've been a fan of reptiles for as long as I can remember, and my first pet was a green anole named Jordan. Since then I've gotten four leopard geckos, all different morphs, who are still with me today. I used to have a garter snake and couple other green anoles along with Jordan, but they've all passed away :x I've been considering getting a jungle carpet python, [or maaaybe another type of python] but I'm waiting out until the Canadian Reptile Breeders Expo in September to see what I can find there. Also hoping to find more info on them, seeing as there's "caresheets" with differing info around the 'net, maybe someone could recommend me a good book instead :3 And I'm also prone to asking all those "stupid" questions, since I don't have very much first-hand experience with snake ownership XD Well hopefully I'll start getting more active here ^^;
[I figure if you start having dreams about getting a snake, clearly some action must be taken to bring that dream to reality ]

Re: I suppose I should make an intro...

hello and welcome

carpets are quite easy to keep and are very forgiving if mistakes are made.

re a good book

keeping and breeding australian pythons, edited by mike swan is a really good book to get you started.it costs roughly 50 australian dollars and can be sent to your door.all in it cost me 90 australian dollars to have it sent to the uk ( £50 = $75 ).it covers all carpets but has a section dedicated to jungles.

pythons of the world volume 1 australia,by dave and tracey barker. is another good book.its been out of print since 1984 so its only second hand copys thats available.they are however pretty expensive.

on e bay a paper back one was £195 = $292.50
a hard back one was £295 = $442.50

i got a paper back copy from a guy in the states at the beginning of the year for £100 = $150 delivered to my door.

re learning on here what i thinks great about learning on here is.folk on here keep so many different species said folk are always willing to help anytime they can.im sure you'll enjoy your time on here.try not to leave it another 5 years before you post again pal,ha,ha
cheers shaun

Re: I suppose I should make an intro...

Thanks for all the welcomes everyone :3 And thanks for the book recommendations too shauny; I'll have to take a look for those. I'll have to compile my questions and then ask in the right forum :p And I admit I've been spending a lot more time over at the Reptiles Canada forum, heh, but I'll be more active here too, promise XD [even if I do mostly lurk ^^;]

And of course, pictures are mandatory :p I decided to take some new pics today to share: [though not all of them came out too good, these leos just can't sit still XD]

This is Tango; she's a tangerine albino, so the name "Tango" just seemed to fit :p

This is Argilla; I cant actually remember what this morph is called, but it looks neat XD She lives with Tango in a huge tank [no really, it's massive], but I have to downsize them to their own separate enclosures eventually, that thing takes up way to much space in my bedroom XD

This is Serph; he seems to be feeling grey today, as you can see, lol. He's a bottomless pit of a blizzard, and tries to take a bite out of just about anything when he's hungry [including me, ouch x.x]

And finally, here's Gei-Koh; he's the oldest leo I have, and he might be over 10 years old :o [factoring in that he was about full grown when I adopted him from the school's science class; when they found out their "breeding pair" was actually two males, one had to go o.O I got the winner, the loser was missing a hand a chunk of his tail x.x] He's been a hand-fed spoiled brat his entire life, I'm not sure if he's lazy or has bad accuracy, but yep XD

Due to image post limits, of anyone wants to see more you can just hop over HERE to my photobucket :3
