hi everyone
hey, i'm new here i stumbled on this site looking for reptile info. retics are my favorite snakes because of their beauty, intelligence and most of all their size. i'm also into balls which i plan on breeding someday but my goal is to eventually breed retics. i've been keeping pythons for 11 years and never bred anything so i figured i'd start with a smaller python. i love all animals but reptiles are my favorite.

Just my thoughts on breeding retics....
They lay HUGE clutches. Are you prepared to find homes for all of them??
If you cannot find proper homes for all of the babies, are you ready to care for a large number of retics??
If any of those questions cannot be answered with a yes, then I would honestly go with breeding the balls, they are a lot easier to place.
Just for reference, a pet store near me bred red tail boas, the eggs pipped months ago, and they have only sold 2 of the offspring so far. They are not even fussy about who they sell to either, if you have the money, you can leave with one, not how I prefer to do business.

You thinking what i am thinking? That a bit odd, because RTBs have live born. But we get the point. They sell to anyone an they're still hard to get rid of. There are i belive 2 or 3 kinds of boa,s now that lay eggs, but they use to be classifed as pythons. Now i have to go see if i can find where i read it.

At least three erycine species lay eggs: the Calabar Boa, (Calabaria reinhardtii) (once classified as a python for this reason), the Arabian Sand Boa, (Eryx jayakari) and the West African Sand Boa, (Eryx muelleri). I knew i read it some where. Here's the link. Boa Constrictor at Animal Corner So there are 3 kinds of egg laying boas. Not trying to give you a hard time Wanye. Just trying to help with the facts.
