sphagnum moss

When using sphagnum moss for shedding process, do you
need to process it in any way before using it? i.e.
boil, bake, etc. Our baby corn is mite free and wants to stay that way!

From what I've read, (and I could be wrong), the moss comes from plant nurseries where you really don't have problems with reptile mites. I think you're just suppose to rinse the stuff really well, then squeeze out all the excess water and place into a plastic container with an entrence hole. I personally prefer to mist my corns before shedding once they turn "blue" and soak them in warm water from about 10-15 min. a day right after their eyes clear up until they shed. Show us some pics of the little one right after the shed, that's when they're the brightest!

I wouldn't continue to do it for 12 years if it didn't.

So yes, it works for my situation and my objectives. I have no idea if it would work for you. But I have an idea that it might.
