Hello there.

Just popping in and saying hello because I see that a few people here have kept Ahaetulla prasina (Asian Green Vine Snake). I just bought 2 females (unfortunatly wc) and am trying to start a breeding colony. My mission with this is to find a stable way of breeding, since I have read that it is almost impossible to do so.

I was wondering if anybody has had some luck in breeding these magnificent snakes.

New here, just wanted to say hi

Hello there I am sort of new to the snake keeping (I mainly have experiance in Poison Dart Frog's). I have just recently bought some Ahaetulla prasina. I absolutly love these guy's.

The reason why I got these guy's was because I have always liked them for about 10 years now. I want to start breeding them so they are more easily avalible so I can cut back on wild cought, as well with the parisite problem.

My end goal with these beauties is a 4.6.0 colony to keep the blood lines from crossing and to stop the importation of wild cought vine snakes.

I have read that these guy's are hard to breed and I will keep a journal of everything that I do so I can help out with others that want to raise them as well.

Regards,
Ryan Murphey

New to this forum

Hello everybody,

I just want to introduce myself as I see that everyone seems to like it. My background is mainly in Poison Dart Frogs(PDFs) but I have always loved snakes. I use to live in Florida where I learned about keeping snakes (corns, racers, and garter) but that was about 15 years ago. I am just now getting back into it and have purchased two beautiful Ahaetulla prasinas (Asian Green Vine Snake). Unfortunately they are wild caught but hopefully I will change that. The reason why I got into this snake is so that there will be CB prisinas available. Plus of what I have been reading is that they are hard to breed in captivity. I will keep a detailed journal on how I will breed these guys so the information will be readily available to the people that love these guys as much as I do.

In the end I would like to breed all three Vine Snake types. There are two others Imantodes and Langaha but I don't want too.
Ahaetulla
Oxybelis
Thelotornis

Re: Hello there.

Hello! Welcome to sSnakeSs. Vine snakes are very cool but I don't keep any, and offhand I don't know any keepers who frquent the forum here who breed. Good luck! Could you post some pictures of your ahaetulla?
