Re: Hello from the UK

Welcome, Ady! It's always nice to have members joining from other countries. You do have a nice menagerie, as Louise says--we'd love to see pics! Are you breeding the beardies? I've been hearing that they are a lot of fun!

I'm Sandy from Oklahoma in the States. Currently, I have only one reptile--a ball python (BP)--but I've caught & kept various snakes & other herps for over 30 years. This summer I'm planning to get some Phelsumas, and I'll be looking into getting a pair of piebald BPs with the dream of breeding them in the future.

Welcome to the forum--I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

Re: Hello from the UK

Hya, I will try and put some pics on tomorrow when I have time to take any. I am sorry to say but I think it will be 2 beardies short as they apeer to have the same problem i had with one I had in the same viv and she died, the one that died was the one that has infected the other two. I hate loosing pets its like loosing one of the family. I think i will buy replacements from a diferent place. Yes I do breed them and they are so cute. I have 24 beardie eggs at the mo due to hatch at the end of the month, and one of my chameleons layed 31 eggs yesterday. Fingers crossed they all hatch.

Re: Hello from the UK

Hey Ady! Welcome to the forum. My family is from the UK, I've been over there many many times to visit. I have 6 beardies, a few colour morphs, some German Giants, and one female who is gravid. I also have one Yemen Cham, and would love to get more in the future, chameleons are super cool and are in my top 3 favourtie herps! (It's between geckos, snakes, and chams!) My boyfriend and I used to want to keep green basilisks but never got around to them. Always great to see new faces (haha or see new avatars i guess)

I hope your beardies are healthy it really sucks to lose pets. I had to get my Newfie dog put doewn this morning and it was super sad I've had her most of my life so it sucks..I've been writing huge forum posts to tak my mind of her. Good luck with the eggs though, how exciting. I can't wait til my beardie lays! And cham eggs...lucky you! Baby veilds are the cutest little things.

What Phelsums did you have in mind? I was looking into getting them before I chose the Rhac route. I really love the look of the peacock day geckos. Beautiful.

Re: Hello from the UK

I hope you have quarantined the entire beardie enclosure where the disease is passing around. If you decide to get new beardies, quarantine them. Quarantining should be done in a different room than the one where you have your other animals and for 6 months if at all possible. Never quarantine for less than 2 months. Here's info:

New Reptile- Quarantine, and signs of Illness ( reptile, herp, snake, lizard, turtle, tort, frog, salamander )

Re: Hello from the UK

So sorry to hear about your dog, it is a sad time.

Re: Hello from the UK

What beauties, Ady! Thanks for sharing them.

Siz, I missed the post about your Newfie on the first reading--I'm so sorry. You've lost a beloved member of your family; I know you must feel devastated. How old was she? You said you'd had her most of your life--what did you love most about her?

She was 13, and I'm 19 soo..yeah. She was so so friendly, and she always had a goofy dog grin on her face. I'll make a thread about her later and post some pictures.
