getting a new snake, need help

ok guys so ive been gone a while, busy with school and stuff... any way, i have a kenyan sand boa and i love her!! but unfortanetly i like expensive hobbies ( my mustang, snakes, and tattooing ) SO im gettng a new snake, the question for you all out there: what kind? my fiance is scared of snakes... im slowly getting her to be aroudn them. i have 2 small dogs, a yorkie and chinese crested ( nother expensive hobbie ) so it can get big enough to hurt them... so retic, red tail, burmese, are out! i was thinking either a albino corn snake, or ball python. ive had balls before so i dont want to do that again, corn snakes are cool but look a lil fast moving for me... what do you guys think, im open to other suggestions to!! pics are always good.... thanks1!!!

i have a brazilian rainbow boa and they are really slender bodied animals and only get about 5-7 feet and about 10 pounds. i have pics of mine all over this forum.. just search "brb" and you will find them. they are known for their rainbow like skin that occurs from microscopic ridges on their scales. they require a lot of humidity and they are tropical snakes obviously from the brazilian rainforests. so their vivs can be very cool looking. other than that im a sucker for any type of boa but you don't want any redtails so maybe some dwarf species but im not that familuar with them.

I'm into corns, amels(albino) are nice for a few bucks more you could get one of these
selectivly bred Amels. Sunglow, Zagtec. sorry for the poor pictures.

i was thinking of an albino corn snake... from what pics and videos i seen they get pretty long. there fast too id rather have a "sluggish"snake... im thinking of a ball pythong...

what the differance between:
hatchling-
juvinile-
adult- ( oviously know this one )

i see these 3 types of balls in the store and im confused about them... thanks guys!!

Hatchling- just born usually considered this until first year and then called yearlings.
Juvinile- older than hatchling but not yet reached sexual maturity.

no matter what snake you get i would find a breeder and not get one from a pet store they are much more expensive at a store and they are usually not taken care of as well.

I like ball pythons but they are too common out there for me.

DAMNIT COY!!!!!! I hate when you post pics cuz it makes me so envious. I hated corns till you decided to post some pics of them. lol. I always thought they were ugly and now i kinda want some.

Hatchling, Juvinile and Adult are terms related to there age/growth. If theyre a hatchling theyre currently around 20 inches and say 6 months old and younger, and juvinle is theyre under 2 ft and are 1 year old/ under breeding age i believe, adult is they are close to theyre max lenth 3-5 ft with corns, and are old enough to breed. Now i could be wrong in terms of ages and lengths in relation to the terms. Im no expert, but thats my understanding of the words.

I think that ball pythons or brazillian ranbow boas are you best bets.
They are nice looking, don't get too big and they're not some of the speediest snakes, to my knowledge. A breeder would definitly be the best place to get a snake. Once you decide what kind you should ask around on this forum if anybody is a breeder or knows a breeder for the type of snake you are looking for.
Let us know what you decide and then post some pics!

I know of a good breeder here in the US. He is really good with his animals and feeds them all well. he carries just about everything and if he doesn't have it he can get it. pm me if you want his website. He has a lot of nice bp's and he is willing to ship. he will be at a show in indy this sunday if you can make it there.

BPs may be common, but there are some fantastic unusual morphs, so if you're wanting something different but easy for the fiancee to get used to, find a good BP breeder & get one of the colorful morphs for her. Lavender albino, coral glow, albino ghost are all pretty if she'd like pretty colors; piebalds are really cool, pinstripes are cool . . . there are so many different morphs! If you don't get a normal het, you will NOT have a "common BP"!

Milk snake? There are some really nice morphs of those, too. They are mostly pretty handleable as well, though I've heard of the occasional bitey one. I snake-sat a milk snake for a friend for two years while he was on a mission trip--it was really fun to watch moving around or burrowing--sometimes we'd see just the tip of his nose or an inch of head poking up out of the substrate, other times he'd be climbing on branches or slithering around . . .
