Thanx. Wel one thing I can say is, over here we really do have a lot of different species of snakes. BUT, it's quite illegal keeping them as pets. (Sort of.) Or let me put it this way, you really have to go through a lot of procedures with the Government to get all your proper permits. And over here you can't buy any snakes, anywhere.
I have not yet noticed your interest in venomous snakes, but they way you're talking I can most definately assume that you are.

well with the way things are going over here in the states, we will soon be in the same position as you. the laws over here just keep getting more and more strict. thats really strange you cant buy snakes anywhere. you can buy them in a lot of places over here. for some reason i thought africa would be a little less strict than the US. i guess i was wrong lol.

Welcome! I'm new here too. I couldn't possibly imagine not being able to buy snakes anywhere, my town of 500,000 has 2 reptile stores, about 15 pet stores that have snakes and lizards, and in a mile square around me, at least 40 breeders! Snakes aplenty if you ask me. Well...good luck to ya.

Welcome, Ross. That's actually quite bad if you ask me, not being able to buy snakes/reptiles. Hopefully, things will change for the better in the future.
In the whole of Namibia we've only got one snakepark, THAT'S IT! And then of course the few peeps who keep snakes/reptiles illegaly... Like me I suppose...

So do you guys just buy the snakes as normal and keep them in captivity? Or do you also need special permits and regulations you have to keep to.

well, there are pretty much different laws in every state/city over here. in some cities you may need a permit to keep a corn snake, but in others you may be able to keep a gaboon viper without any permits. the laws are constantly changing though (usually for the worst).
