What kind of snake is this??

Lighting isnt that great, but it is brown and black with a brown stripe down the middle of its back. I live in the Southeastern part of Virginia. I found it hanging out in my shed the other day right after I was standing less than a foot from it.:bugged:

Smile What kind of snake is this?

It looks to me like an Eastern Garter, but if it has 2 lateral stripes on third row of scales its a fat ribbonsnake.

it looks like an eastern garter to me as well. whatever it is, its totally harmless because its definitely nothing venomous.
