Hey I'm new here I have a few questions.

Hi all, my name is John. I am interested in buying a red tail. Please let me know some of the care they need and share some experiences that some of you may have had with this snake. Thank you.

as far as husbandry goes red tails are very easy snakes to keep. the only potential problem is their size. keep in mind you may end up with an 8'+ snake. i usually recommend that people that are new to snakes start out with a corn snake or ball python but if you think you can handle their size they are a joy to keep. good luck

If you are looking to acquire a true red tail(guyana, surinam, peruvian, brazilian) they can be the most beautiful snake you ever have. As for size goes true red's are the biggest of the B.C.C. in both length and weight. These snakes are puppy tame for the most part, but do require the respect that they are powerful snakes. They are also one of the slowest growing boas there are to due to there slow metabolism. And it is not uncommon to have a red tail regurge on you. They also like to burry themselves in there substrate and just have there head visible on the surface, but if your going to keep it on paper towel or news print then you wont experience this. I would recommend one of these beautiful snakes to anyone that has experince with bigger snakes, so if you feel comfortable with it which you probably do considering you have a burm then go for it. I personnaly have 3 of them right now and all together have had 5 guyana's/surinam's in my collection in my life. As for a good breeder there is Big Dan out in calgary who has some killer offspring every year.
