Look what I found!!

Well my neighbor found it not me today in her back yard. Yes that is right " today " 1/02/2006 in North West Indiana. Anyway she is scared of any type of snake so she call me to get rid of it for her. I am glad she called me instead of killing it or leaving it to die outside in the cold weather. It is a Eastern Milk Snake it is about 26 to 28 inches long. Looks in good shape for the most part.
I sure hope it eats for me, I will try feeding it a pinky rat or mouse later this week. Even after it warmed up it was not aggressive at all pretty cool little snake I do say so myself. I am not sure if I am going to keep it until spring time and let it go or find someone who wants it for a pet that live by me and let them have it. Anyway here are some picture of the Eastern Milk Snake.

That's cool. We've been having some wierd weather around Indiana lately. It was up to 65 today in central Indiana. Maybe the snake just couldn't figure out what time of year it was.

thats amazing you found a snake in the middle of winter. hes a very nice milk none the less. i live in PA and i found an eastern milk this summer and it was the calmest little snake ive ever found in the wild. even after he warmed up he was very docile and easy going. i released him back into the wild after i relocated him from a guys house that did not like snakes.

Kool snake. Almost looks like a corn . It's much nicer looking then the black rat snake I found in my duck pen this summer. He also was docile and easy to handle. I brought him up and put him in a 10 gal I use for feeding and he took 2 rat pinkies like he was starving. It was about 3' long then and I kept him. He's down in the basement cooled down for the winter. After his shed sometime in late october or early november he was about 3.5'. Seems like he really put on 6" fast or my first estimate was low.

He has never struck and is very easy to handle. I wouldn't have thought that of a w/c snake.
