Any tips for moving with herps?

I have a move comming up and luckily I found a drive for myself and the animals after the movers leave with all my stuff... any tips for packing tanks so they wont get broken? Luckily i don't have anything over 20 gallons in size.

I basically plan to house each gecko, snake, and the skink in kritter keepers and place all the critter keepers in a medium sized dog crate for easy transport. The car will be warmed up before I get in, but should I have a few of those 24 heat packs in the carrier for their comfort?

Any tips from others who moved with reptiles?

When we moved a few years back it was cold and snowing. I bagged the snakes and put them in coolers along with electric heating pads plugged into a power inverter. One thing with moving in the winter you can over heat your animals in addition to chilling them out, don't forget to keep a digital therometer so you can keep an eye on their temps. In the case of moving slightly cool is probably better then too warm. I would use a large cooler instead of a dog crate as you can chill an animal pretty quick with a briefly open window or door. Reptiles are not heavy breathers and should do fine as long as you open the lid every couple hours or so to check on them (this will exchange the air).

As for the enclosures you might see if you can get the same boxes they're normaly shipped in.

with the tanks tape up the side ( cross pattern) then i pack towels, clothing, soft stuff inside the tanks, also wrapping up the blubs in towels and then putting them into the tanks with the lids so nothing crushes the bulbs... hope that helps with the tanks

Thanks chantel, I will try to find boxes that will fit them and thought about packing the 10 gallon inside the 20 gallon. Does packing tape work for the sides? I have a ton of newspaper I have been saving that I can use as well
