lizards

are there any wild lizards in florida besides anoles. i know there used to be chameleons but i found this little lizard today that didnt look like an anole. thanks

There were never true chameleons in FL. Some people called anoles American chameleons. There are, however, many species of native and introduced lizard in FL including a few gecko species, the most common being the mediterranian gecko; some anole species; a couple of Sceloporous species; green ameivas, and tons of skinks. If you post a pic, I will do my best to identify it.

i didnt get a pic of it, i didnt feel like catching it but it was gold w/ no markings, abt 2 in long had big blak eyes an a hed like an anole
