sick boa

my friend has a very old bci, i think hes around 16 years old now. my friend told me the snakes face was swollen so i went to look at it to see if i could tell what was wrong. first off he has a wound on his face, maybe he was rubbing on the screen top or prey bit him (they feed him live and i keep telling them not to) it looks like a red scab. all around it is swollen and the scales look all melted together and greyish. i think its probably scale rot. it looks like it has also gone into his mouth as well. he doesnt close his mouth all the way and has brown scabs above his teeth. so i told my friend and his mom its probably scale and mouth rot. said id ask what they can do. so if any one can help us that would be great.

Sounds like an advanced case of stomatitis (mouth rot). The only fix for that will be cleaning and antibiotic treatment... in other words, a vet visit is strictly in order.
