...You will continue to hear different things, too... The constant that I kept hearing when I was working on mine was to assume that the boa may want to almost stretch all the way out. Do NOT, however, give them an enormous home while they're young-- My Climate problems (here in Boston, MA) are frustrating, and would cause even MORE stress on a small snake. I also hear that an enclosure too big can stress the young animal out.
My thread (right below yours, at this moment,) contained some great ideas from a member for size re. Climate control, and if I could, I'd prob. take his advice. Say... big enough to be a showpiece (we all love to show them off, right??) but small enough not to kill you (or the snake) when you try to nail the heat & humidity levels. Perhaps 2.5-3 feet high by 5 long, by 2-3 wide. Remember: you'll need to fit the big wading pool in there on the floor, eventually. Make sure you plan for THAT width, too, AND room for the critter to move around it.
(Don't ask ME about substrate or heating, that's for sure!!) :-)
