feeding routine
what do you feed. when during the week, and what greens do you use. just wondering. i feed crickets and mealworms, kale as a once a week treat and switch up with collard greens like dandelions.

Give him more then that to keep a healthy breadie you need to give him a wide varity of greens.ps mine really like blueberries!!

oh i know that. those i find are the first thing them picky buggers would it! put they love carrot shreds and every now and then a strawberry. It took some time for them to relize veggies were yummy!lol

Firstly, I would highly recommend limiting the amount of kale you are offering your dragon in comparison to more beneficial greens. Kale is high in oxalates, which binds to the calcium rendering it unusuable. It is also high in goitrogens which interfere with thyroid function. My vegetable mix consists of escarole, mustard greens, endive, dandelion greens, collard greens and watercress with small amounts of kale, nappa and bok choy. I also add fibre sources every now and then such as beans, and offer fruit occassionally. All my adults are on a staple of crickets with silkworms and a few others added into the mix.
I would also offer vegetables on a daily basis, earlier in the day before feeding insects. They will be on an empty stomache and thus more likely to consume a fair amount of vegetable matter.

In addition to the vegetables, I noticed you are feeding mealworms?
Mealworms are definate not recommended food for dragons. Their outer skin is made of chitin ( a hard shell ) and is very difficult for the dragon to digest. Superworms have less chitin and are ok to feed.

I feed mine twice a day.
I mainly feed some type of greens, along with some pellets and silkworms dusted with Calcium. Occasionally I will mix some vegetables and fruit.

greens in the morn and crix at night.. mines still a juvi/sub adult..... but here is a shopping list made easy for ya to give you the BEST things to feed and when.. also make a salad not just greens.. for example mix some mustard greens with shredded carrots and mango.. a complete salad.. i find my beardie tends to eat all his salad when i do that.. sometimes hell even pick through... pickie little bugger....

Mine atm is almost 4 months old. I feed him 10 dusted cricket about 6 a.m. and 10 dusted crickets about 6 p.m. Along with the crickets he gets zuchini(sp?), squash, mustard greens and rep-cal pellets available all day for him to munch on.

i cant get my beardie to eat the prepared food from a pet store, any tips? or is it even needed? thanks

If you want him to eat pellets the only thing you can do is just put it in his bowl and wait.

If you are feeding pellets, soak them first. The dry pellets can dehydrate a dragon very quickly. I feed RepCal pellets in addition to salads, or days that I don't have any bugs or salads onhand... dump some into a container, soak in water for 10mins, drain out left over water, and feed.

I have had a couple of people suggest to me soaking them in fruit juice first.
I tried this but mine still weren't interested.
