Talking Colombian Update

Although I had managed to tackle the humidity problem, my colombian wasn't eating at all...so...I was reading an amazing article from repvet.co about Non-Feeding snakes. Here's the link: http://www.repvet.co.za/snakes_feedingproblems.htm. Now, since I have made sure all husbandry is correct and haven't been handling her and she's seemingly healthy. I figured the only thing that MUST have been stressing her is the size of her enclosure. So, I did exactly what I did for Gainiel when he was around (my Neonate Amazon Tree Boa). Large Kritter Keeper with saran wrap cpvering 3/4 of the roof. And she LOVES it, I never realized how arboreal colombians are.

This was Gainiel's set up, hers is almost the same...

I'll keep the 36" enclosure for when she's older. By that time I'll also have purchased a Habba Mist from ZooMed. Although Mike and I have managed to keep the humidity around 75-83% this is by spraying the enclosure about 5-7 times a day and we just don't have the time for that. So we'll get that installed into the melamine enclosure, and I'm going to tackle the heat light fixture with a screw driver today. Montey thrives with the red basking bulb however she's a spotted python and not very humidity dependant.

So the next day after putting her in the keeper, I tried f/t again, no interest. So, because she's young and I don't want her off feed for long, I went and picked up a live fuzzy. Man was I near tears, I swear we picked the cutest one of the litter:

But she ate for me without hesitation. Now I just have to convert her to f/t and we'll be all good

Jenn

Jenn, you're keeping your CRB in a Kritter Keeper?

Can you keep the humidity up?

Heather: Yep, humidity is at a steady 85%, what I do is I cover the top 3/4 with Saran Wrap. LOL

Cool I tried that with a temporary faunarium once, and it didn't work...

Good luck!
