Borneo Short Tail Python

HI...Im looking into buying two more snakes...Would a Borneo Short Tail Python be good for someone with 9 months experence with snakes and other reptiles?I have a 2 ball pythons one corn and one spotted python.

Nonetheless, I'll answer your question here until it does get moved to the right forum. My personal belief is that these are NOT a beginner's python - they get very large, and are very demanding on their requirements. Some are also quite aggressive and their bites are VERY painful and can bleed quite a bit.

That being said, if you are WELL researched on the species you want to get into and do have some experience, there is no reason not to get into this amazing species. If you are 1) knowledgeable on, and 2) able to provide, the appropriate husbandry, give 'er! This is an amazing and impressive species to work with.

Actually blood python is not a borneo short-tailed, and they are not related in the curtus genus(it was "discontinued" so to speak, a few years ago). But, this is the forum where bloods and short-taileds go. Blood Python(malaysian, banka, or summatran) = Python Brongersmai, Borneo Short-tailed python = Python Breinsteini, Black Blood Python(or summatran short-tailed python) = Python Curtus.

Anyways, I second what Ken(Invictus) said. I would suggest getting some experience with similar sized more docile snakes first, Ie: Colombian Boas, Guyana or Surinam Red-tailed boas. Actually I would reccomend a male of one of the latter two species as an "intermediate" level snake between balls and bloods, because though bloods/short-tails dont get very long(4-7feet), they are still more heavy bodied. A guyana or surinam male wont get too long either(5-8ft), but though a little longer, and more slender, still has the weight. Also, these species are on occasion a little more agressive, but not as bad a blood python can be. I have seen blood/short-tails that are absolute nuts, however all three of mine are like babies. But as Ken said, if you think you are ready, know your stuff, and can adequately house one of these animals when fullgrown, and are willing to deal with the possibility of an agressive animal, then, go for it! They are truly a magnificant and wonderful species to work with.
