adult ball python rack

I'm building a rack for adult balls. What is the maximum gap that I'm allowed between the top of the rubbermaid and the shelf?
Thanks, Paul.

1/16"???

As little as possible without being air-tight.

There is no maximum, you want it to be close enough so that your balls can't creep out, and far enough apart so as not to restrict airflow. I guess mine are between 1/8" and 1/4"

I myself use a gap about the thickness of a thick piece of cardboard, and no airholes in the tub. I know of at least one other person who does it this way as well (with great succes). Seems to work pretty well in my situation, may not for you. There's many variables that could affect whether that would work for you or not.

I use NO gap. But the Rubbermaids I'm using have a depression on either side, and I put about 16 holes in the front as well.

Jeff,
that was the reason of my post. I have the 2119 rubbermaids 33"x16"x6"; they come with the depression on either side. I was worried if I allowed a gap, plus the depression the snake may work on it.
Thanks, Paul.
